How to Get Rid of Unwanted Facial Hair

remove facial hair
Many men and women have a big problem with surplus hair growth, especially that on their face. Men may not like having eyebrows that tend to meet over the bridge of their nose or sideburns that extend too far down below where their jawline starts. Women may feel embarrassed because they have a thin layer of hair over their lips, right below their nostrils. The good news is that it is always possible to remove excess facial hair temporarily - if you are willing to do this on a consistent basis, you may have a smooth face eventually that may look more attractive to you and the people you interact with.

One of the most common ways to remove excess facial hair is through waxing. You can either go to a professional waxing salon so they can do this for you or you can simply buy do-it-yourself waxing kits from a pharmacy that you can try out in private. The advantage with going to a pro is that they may be able to reach areas of your face that you don’t have a clear view of, even with a mirror. For example, if you are a guy who wants to remove sideburns then you have a problem because you can only tilt your face enough to see some areas but not the whole sideburn area. Letting a pro handle the waxing can also be good because waxing does entail some pain on your part – so you might hesitate to do all the waxing once you feel how painful it is.

Relying on DIY waxing kits at home also depends on your threshold of pain. It is cheaper of course than going to a waxing salon but you need to do it fast (such as when you pull away the waxing film from the hairy area) so that you don’t feel the pain so much as hairs get pulled from their roots. It can also be awkward since you might not know how much waxing to do to get the results you want. In addition, using some questionable DIY waxing sets might trigger an allergic reaction on your skin – which could be more painful and harmful than the hairy areas ever were.

Since you want to be as safe as possible when removing surplus facial hair, you may want to get help from a dermatologist first. Your dermatologist can not only advice you on good safe products for waxing but she can also check when you develop an allergic reaction to see how bad the damage is. Your other safe option when removing surplus hair is to use a sharp implement like an old fashioned razor blade to start scraping away the hair from the base. As long as you don’t slip and cut yourself, this should be a painless procedure that is approximately as effective as a do-it-yourself wax job could ever be.

Remember though that hair does grow back so you need to keep up the effort as part of your regular grooming routine for a lifetime to see consistent results. For  more information about hair removal or beauty tips, visit us online at Sheniko Beauty Store. We would love to hear from you!

How to Get Lighter Skin

How to lighten your skin and fade dark spots

For many people, dark spots are a very big problem when it comes to their skin complexion. Having dark spots is not only annoying but also embarrassing – for example, your facial skin could be light but your armpits may be dark despite your efforts to keep it clean and shaven. If you think that you are in a hopeless situation take heart because there are still ways to lighten skin that has a tendency to darken.

One way to lighten your darkening skin is to identify what your real skin color is. If you are using whitening products on other parts of your body, such as your face, but don’t use the same whitening products on other parts of your body then it is simply natural that your skin would turn dark when left untreated. Some women are in a hurry to get lighter skin but that won’t be easy if you are naturally dark (such as if you have African blood). You may have to determine how white or light you intend to become all over so that you don’t look like a giraffe.

A good dermatologist may be able to refer you to some treatments that are good enough to induce skin whitening in problem areas. Take note that it is often good to get those treatments under the care of a qualified dermatologist in case the treatments are very strong. One treatment that dermatologists do often recommend is the use of fruits or vegetables that have some acids to act as natural whiteners. Have you ever tried to apply tomatoes to your skin? This is a gentle form of treatment which is quite safe. However, some women are not keen on using fruit or vegetable acids because they don’t work very fast – and some women are really in a hurry to get lighter skin so they may turn down this option.

Some deodorant manufacturers may recommend sunflower oil as a skin whitening treatment. If you want to try this out, you can actually buy their deodorant products to see if this works for you. Or maybe you can find a dermatologist who can use a stronger formulation. Be sure that you inform the dermatologist if you feel a strong burning sensation upon use of any products because you might be allergic to some ingredients without knowing this in advance.

One commercially available product that has been proven to really help smoothen and lighten skin is called Tretinoin. You can ask your dermatologist if this is suitable for you. One side effect of using Tretinoin is that the skin where it was applied may tend to become sensitive to sunlight and abrasions so you will have to treat the skin with care once you embark on a Tretinoin application program.

Whatever you opt to do to erase your dark skin areas, be sure that you give the product enough time to work. Many women get badly burned when they get impatient and put on more of the product because they think that this will hasten the lightening process. Given enough time, you may wind up getting the right shade of lightened skin if you do the treatment the right way.

How to Get Rid of Unwanted Hair on Your Face and Body

Hair Removal Methods

Unwanted hair can be a real nuisance and there are many ways you can get rid of them. Unwanted hair commonly occurs on the chin, upper lips, cheeks, fingers, arms, back, legs, feet, toes etc.

The growth of unwanted hair may occur due to many reasons, including genetics, certain hormones, use of certain medications (steroids) and a condition called polycystic ovarian syndrome.

The following ways are a few approaches to hair removal. It is important to note that with some of these methods, hair will grow back eventually.

Shaving
Women prefer this method because it often does not cause any pain and it can be done very quickly. Shaving is ideal for hair removal of the arms, legs and facial hair (for men only). However, shaving can cause an embarrassing problem called ingrown hairs, usually on the legs and pubic areas.

Plucking
This is also called tweezing, and can be done with the use of tweezers. Plucking can be very painful and time consuming as it involves pulling one hair at a time, therefore should only be done for a few number of hairs, for example, when you want to make a few final touches to your eyebrows or remove awkward hairs from your chin etc. Plucking can result in scarring and ingrown hairs. Eyebrows may also be shaved with a special tool called an Eyebrow Razor that can be purchased online here.

Waxing
Hot waxing can be a painful way to remove your hair, but it can be done on large areas as well as small areas. Moreover, it can also be done at home, with a DIY sugar wax (sugaring) and at the salon. Waxing works for many people, however, it is not completely fail-safe as the hairs can break off instead of being completely pulled out. Make sure the wax is not too hot, or you can easily burn your skin. Avoid waxing if you use certain prescription medications, specifically acne creams such as Retin-A or medications such as isotretinoin, because you may just pull your skin off while doing so. It’s important that you go to a reliable salon if you want to remove your hair with these methods because burns, infections and wounds can occur.

Threading
Threading is a method in which a thread is twisted in a manner to pull the hair out. It is commonly used for small regions such as the upper lips, eyebrows and chin.

Hair removal creams
These are also called depilatory creams. Not all creams are the same, therefore, make sure you read the box properly to check it if matches your skin type. You must also make sure that it is suitable for use for a specific art, for example, hair removal creams for the pubic regions or your legs should not be used on the face. Hair removal creams can also cause skin allergies, therefore, read instructions carefully, do a small skin test and use products with caution.

Laser hair removal
This hair removal method is long-lasting and involves continued treatments, about four or more. This method works by using a laser that eliminates the hair bulb. This is a fairly expensive method compared to the aforementioned ones and can also cause in pain at times. Make sure you choose a highly trained and experienced doctor for this method.
